About UMConnect Training
UMConnect Training uses a deployment of the Adobe Connect Enterprise Server to deliver online training to the University of Minnesota community. Training can be developed from many types of content, including on-demand web presentations created with Adobe Presenter, live UMConnect meetings, Flash videos and PDF documents.
UMConnect Training consists of two components: courses and curriculums. A course is one content item (e.g.. web presentation, UMConnect meeting) that is associated with a set of enrolled learners and includes tracking of each individual enrollee’s use. A curriculum is a group of courses and other content that guides enrolled learners along a particular learning path. All UMConnect courses and curriculums are contained, organized, and edited in a directory of folders called the Training library and is available from the Training tab after you sign into the UMConnect manager page. With UMConnect Training modules you can:
- Track an enrollee's individual score and answers to quizzes
- Set prerequisites and test-outs for items in the training
- Send email notifications and reminders for training
- Set an expiration date for training modules
- Keep track of versions for training modules
UMConnect Training can only be delivered to those who have a University of Minnesota Internetd ID. Participants in the training must also be enrolled into the training and cannot self-enroll. Other Learning Management Systems, such as Moodle, can be used to create online training in which people can self-enroll. For more information on Moodle, please see the Moodle Support site.
Getting Started with UMConnect Training
UMConnect Training is developed within the Training library from the UMConnect manager page. Content items for courses and curriculums can be developed using Adobe Presenter and can include UMConnect meetings. UMConnect and Accessibility
UMConnect uses a deployment of Adobe Connect Enterprise Server. Many features of Adobe Connect do not meet accessibility standards. However, content such as web presentations that is used in training modules can be made accessible. Accessible Online Presentations with Macromedia Breeze Presenter is a design guide for creating accesible presentations using both Breeze Presenter 5.1 and Adobe Presenter 6.
For additional information on Adobe Connect and accessibility, please see the Adobe Connect Voluntary Product Accessibility Template(VPAT) and Adobe's Accessibility Resource Center.
